Employee Spotlight – Brian Forsythe

Brian Forsythe joined the Crown CFO team in October 2023. Brian has more than 30 years of experience spanning multiple industries.

  • Why did you want to become a fractional CFO?

After serving in the CFO role for many organizations, I desired the ability to leverage my experience. Joining Crown CFO gave me the opportunity to share my expertise with a broader client set.

  • What industries are you focused on?

Over the years I have provided C-suite expertise in the industries of manufacturing, distribution and service organizations.

  • What led you to focus on manufacturing, distribution and service organizations?

Manufacturers face a variety of unique challenges in the marketplace.  Disruptions and continual evolution of the supply chain and labor markets present significant challenges that are compounded by inflationary pressures.  I help organizations develop, maintain, and decipher timely, accurate and actionable information.

  • What is the most challenging part of your CFO career?

I’ve found that one of the most formidable challenges for any CFO (or any C-suite role) can be defined as change management.  Many factors are key for success, whether it be a simple business process change or complete sales channel transformation, but communication is paramount.

  • Do you recommend any business books?

Leadership and Self-Deception – The Arbinger Institute.

This book provides insight into developing and exercising views from the perspective of co-workers, customers, family members etc. It is a guide to identify the “blind spots” we all have in relationships.

  • What other insights can you share that you’ve learned through your work experiences?

Change is evergreen and we can better chart the course with reliable and timely information.  The work doesn’t stop there though; communicating change through relatable stories helps ensure the team fully understands the objective.

  • What staple items might we find in your office?

Pictures of my family and a Magic 8 ball for the really tough decisions!

  • What are your most memorable business trips?

My most interesting business trips have all been associated with initial M&A discovery visits.  Meeting management teams and gaining an understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face always inspires thought.
