Employee Spotlight – Beau Musser
Beau joined Crown CFO in May 2025. He has more than 20 years of financial experience in multiple industries including construction, manufacturing and government.
- Why did you want to become a fractional CFO?
After years of experience in various industries, I am excited about the opportunity to use my knowledge to help multiple companies in different industries.
- Why do you enjoy the industries you focus on and why do you bring value to those industries?
I like working for companies that make or build things. The added complexity of construction and manufacturing companies is where I thrive because I have worked with enough of them to know how the best (and worst) companies manage their business
- What are common challenges that you see in business?
The most common challenge I see in business is the inability to effectively manage growth and working capital. Too often, companies don’t have the right financial reporting systems in place to truly understand how they’re performing. When work in progress gets overlooked and you can’t get a clear picture of where you stand at any given moment, it becomes nearly impossible to manage cash flow effectively. Without that real-time financial visibility, businesses struggle to make informed decisions.
- What other tips and insights can you share that you’ve learned through your work experience?
Construction companies must have a handle on their construction Work in Progress Schedule. To be successful at this means that the whole team, estimators, project managers and the accounting team must communicate effectively. As a CFO, I know this effective communication makes a huge difference in the success of a business.
- Where did you like to travel and why?
I’m always a fan of escaping Kansas City’s summer humidity with trips to Colorado, where I love exploring the mountains around Winter Park and Steamboat Springs on my mountain bike. Mountain biking is a passion of mine—I also ride in the Bentonville area and have gotten into electric mountain biking both locally and when I travel. Between my two bikes, I’ve put over 10,000 miles and have basically broken everything on my bikes at some point, so my bike shop knows me pretty well! My newest passion is snow skating, which is perfect because I can take advantage of Missouri’s rolling hills for this fun winter sport right here at home.
