Employee Spotlight – Dave Petet
Dave joined Crown CFO in May 2026. He has over 35 years of financial experience in multiple industries including manufacturing, technology, tradeshow, aerospace, publishing and government contracting.
- Why did you want to become a fractional CFO?
The fractional CFO role gives me the best of both worlds — being deeply involved in day-to-day business operations while also contributing to the strategic direction of a company. I genuinely enjoy helping business leaders and owners stabilize and grow their organizations. There’s real fulfillment in knowing that the work I do helps the people who have the most at stake sleep a little easier at night.
- What industries are you focused on?
Manufacturing, Technology, Aerospace, Government Contracting, and Publishing.
- Why do you enjoy the industries you focus on and why do you bring value to those industries?
I’ve always been fascinated by how things are made and how technology drives business forward — which is what naturally draws me to manufacturing and tech-oriented companies. I have a genuine passion for improving workflows and processes, and I find a lot of satisfaction in helping businesses grow. I think that combination of curiosity and hands-on problem-solving is at the heart of what has made me successful throughout my career.
- What are common challenges that you see in business?
Perhaps surprisingly, communication tends to be one of the most common pain points. We have more tools than ever to stay connected — phones, text, email, voicemail, Teams, and more — yet breakdowns in communication still happen far too often. It’s a reminder that technology alone doesn’t solve the fundamentals.
- What business books do you recommend?
I highly recommend The Goal by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, which introduces the Theory of Constraints. It’s essential reading for anyone in manufacturing, but the core principles apply broadly to any system, process, or workflow. It’s one of those books that changes how you think.
- Where did you go on your favorite vacation?
With both of my children recently graduating from college, we celebrated with a family trip to Kentucky to explore the Bourbon Trail. It was hands down the most fun and relaxing vacation I’ve ever taken, and everyone had a wonderful time. We also love spending time in Colorado and New Mexico. For a closer-to-home getaway, it’s hard to beat Roaring River State Park and a little trout fishing.
