Employee Spotlight – Nick Christianson

Nick joined Crown CFO in January 2025. He has over 20 years of financial experience in multiple industries including manufacturing and nonprofit.

  • Why did you want to become a fractional CFO?

I’m excited about engaging with a diverse group of business owners to help them see around the corners and achieve their missions. It’s rewarding to leverage my experience in companies that can benefit from my background and expertise.

  • Why do you enjoy the industries you focus on and why do you bring value to those industries?

I love product design and strategy, so helping manufacturing companies achieve their market goals is exciting to me. On the nonprofit side, it’s personally fulfilling to work with organizations whose bottom line is human impact. I’m inspired by the dedication and purpose driven mindset of nonprofits and the people I get to work with.

  • What are common challenges that you see in business?

Businesses have a tendency to focus on profitability and neglect balance sheet vision and planning. Sharp management of both is necessary for a successful business!

  • What other tips and insights can you share that you’ve learned through your work experience?

A key responsibility of senior executives is to help each employee evolve into a role where they can bring their best talents every day. It not only helps the individual recognize that their role is valuable, but it also helps the whole company succeed.

  • Where did you go on your favorite vacation? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite family vacation memory was the classic I-80 road trip to California. We camped at an epic site in Sequoia National Park and had some exciting bear encounters. One incident included a bear cub drinking my daughter’s hot chocolate!

I’ve also enjoyed more than one DIY expedition on the Arctic rivers in Nunavut with my inflatable jet boat. The solitude is unbelievable and the lengthy transition from sunset to sunrise is otherworldly. While I was in the Arctic, I also had the strange experience of being charged by a young caribou!
